Why Raw?

New to raw feeding? Don't worry, we'll make it easy to digest!

Why should I feed my pet raw food?

Wild dogs and wolves have been hunting and eating prey for thousands of years. Dogs have therefore developed a digestive system that functions best on raw foods. Only since the industrial age has the common diet of dogs been cooked, high in grains, and low in nutrients. What's worse, modern day kibble includes a long list of processed ingredients like preservatives and fillers that can have negative effects on your pet's health.

What is B.A.R.F.?

B.A.R.F. stands for the "Biologically Appropriate Raw Food or Bones and Raw Food". It's a belief system that by feeding your animal raw whole foods similar to those eaten by their wild ancestors, you will improve their digestion, health, and overall quality of life. Seems pretty simple, right? The B.A.R.F. methodology says that your pet's diet should mimic what they would eat in the natural world. The Maxota Raw recipe is a biologically appropriate, nutritionally sound and adequate, ancestral diet. It includes whole ingredients such as prey's meat, bone, innards, and predigested fruit and vegetation such as seeds, leaves, and grasses...YUM (for your pooch that is)!
